Embrace the Darkness: A Thanksgiving Spell for the Wickedly Inclined

Thanksgiving is that quaint little holiday where everyone pretends gratitude tastes better than pumpkin pie. But what if you’re not here for the mashed potatoes and forced smiles? What if you want to celebrate the season with a little more bite? For those of us who prefer our gratitude with a dash of darkness, here’s a Thanksgiving spell that’s as wickedly delightful as a raven’s caw at midnight.

Why a Dark Witch’s Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is about giving thanks, sure. But it’s also about acknowledging the shadows that shape us. The things we’ve survived, the power we’ve claimed, and the darkness we’ve embraced. This spell isn’t about sunshine and rainbows. It’s about honoring the night, the unseen forces, and the strength that comes from walking your own path—no matter how twisted it may be.

What You’ll Need

  • A black candle (because white is for the light, and we’re not here for that)

  • A small bowl of black salt (to keep unwanted guests at bay)

  • A sprig of sage or rosemary (for cleansing)

  • A piece of parchment and a black pen (to write your intentions)

  • A pinch of dried mugwort or any dark herb you trust.

  • Your favorite dark wine or herbal tea (to toast your power)

Preparing Your Space

Find a quiet corner where the shadows gather. Dim the lights or light some black candles. Clear the space with your sage or rosemary, letting the smoke curl like a serpent around your altar. Sprinkle the salt in a circle around your setup. This is your sacred space, where gratitude meets the occult.

The Thanksgiving Spell

Light the black candle and focus on the flame. Think about what you want to honor this season—not just the obvious things, but the hidden victories, the lessons learned in darkness, the power you’ve claimed from your struggles.

Now, take your parchment and write down what you are truly thankful for. Be honest. Be raw. Be wicked.

When you’re ready, fold the parchment and place it under the bowl of salt. Sprinkle your dark herb over it, whispering the chant below.

The Chant

Shadows deep and secrets old,

Gratitude in darkness told.

From night’s embrace, my strength I claim,

In whispered thanks, I speak my name.

By candle’s glow and herbs’ dark kiss,

I bind my thanks in shadow’s bliss.

Repeat this chant three times, letting the words sink into the night.

After the Spell

Sip your dark wine or tea slowly. Let the flavors remind you that gratitude doesn’t have to be sweet to be powerful. Keep the parchment and salt bowl on your altar for the rest of the day. When the candle burns out, bury the parchment outside or in a pot with a dark plant—let your thanks feed the earth.

This is a very interesting spell . I will be trying this soon, after surgery. I love being wicked and I love darkness. Dark Witchery is my favorite place to be and along with the “Special Teacher” we all have that teaches us one spell at a time. Thank you Darklady 🖤🔥🖤
