Why The Shadows Test You!

DARK WITCHERY TEACHING BLOG:

Why the Shadows Test a Witch Before They Trust Her

(By Dark Witchery — Darklady)

There’s one lesson the beginner witches never seem to understand — and the advanced witches pretend they learned without bleeding for it:

The shadows do not trust you just because you call yourself a witch.

They test you first.

They always test you.

And no, not with some dramatic Hollywood nonsense.

Not with demons crawling out your mirror or ghosts knocking over your coffee mug.

The shadows test you with the same three things they’ve used for centuries:

1. Your reactions.

2. Your discipline.

3. Your ability to shut the hell up and pay attention.

Let’s go deeper since I know my witches didn’t show up for lightweight Wiccan fluff.

✦ 1. The Shadows Watch How You React to Small Signs

The universe throws butterflies at the light witches.

The shadows throw ravens, stray cats, strange dreams, and the occasional brow old fat rat the size of your ex’s ego.

If your reaction is:

fear,

panic,

or “Jesus save me,”

then congratulations — the shadows move on and leave you to your crystals and Pinterest spells.

But if your reaction is:

curiosity,

awareness,

“Oh, hello — what are you?”

then the shadows whisper back.

The first test is always about whether you’re the one who runs, or the one who watches.

✦ 2. Discipline: The Skill Nobody Wants to Talk About

Witchcraft isn’t a vibe — it’s a practice.

Shadow majick especially.

And the shadows test your consistency before they hand you anything real.

If you only show up when you “feel witchy,”

or when Mercury is in retrograde,

or when your life is a flaming dumpster…

The shadows will treat you exactly the same way:

occasional, inconsistent, and replaceable.

But if you show up:

tired,

annoyed,

pissed off,

grieving,

busy,

or bored…

AND YOU STILL DO THE WORK?

That’s when the shadows say:

“Alright. She’s one of us.”

Consistency is a spell.

Most witches never master it.

✦ 3. Paying Attention:

The Lost Art of Real Witchcraft

The shadows speak constantly.

Not loudly.

Not dramatically.

But constantly.

You don’t need tarot for every answer.

Sometimes you just need to notice:

the bird that shouldn’t be here

the dream you can’t shake

the sudden animal visitor

the shift in the air

the silence that feels like someone is listening

the thing that returns after disappearing

the brown rat that arrives fat and old like it’s done this before

Witchcraft starts when you stop waiting for “signs,”

and start reading the world like a living grimoire.

✦ The Final Lesson: Shadows Don’t Choose the Soft Ones

The shadows choose witches who don’t break easily.

Witches who:

laugh when things go wrong

curse at the wind

talk to animals

trust their instincts

see the world in layers

and keep walking even when the path disappears

You don’t earn the shadows trust by pretending to be powerful.

You earn them by being the kind of witch who keeps going

— even on the days when nobody sees your worth but the ravens, the blue jays, the squirrels, and the old fat rat who wandered up to say hello.

The shadows test you first.

But if you pass?

They become loyal in a way the light never will.

I’m so looking forward to this. Even as a 7 year old, I seen the Spirit of my Uncle while I was home alone. So I’m ready. Thank you Darklady 🖤🔥🖤
